Blueberry Season

Yesterday was a lovely day picking blueberries and catching up with a friend. Here is a nice photo of the fields from our surry (complete with fringe).

We had a nice day in the blueberry fields and Ivette had an unexpected call from her son in Afghanistan.

The blueberries are delicious and the friendship even nicer. Altogether, a lovely day.

Even Bigger Zucchini

Having friends over for dinner, brought not only friends, but more of Bernice's giant zucchini. Here is the city gardener herself with her oldest daughter Edhybet. Aren't they cute!

Totem Alternative

I have been having a little'problem' with collecting glass ever since I dicovered making totems. I had never seen them before and to my knowledge,no one in my area does these. I have made several for the garden.

Well, today has been a rainy day and I started to put some glass together. I used a decanter on the bottom and a light globe on top and it looked like a lamp. So, I stuffed it with Christmas lights and Voila, a nice easy project.

Finished Project

I have mentioned before that I often like to pick
things up at the side of the road.
While I was staying with my mom after her surgery, I spotted this table curbside and just had to get it.

First I sanded it down, painted it black (of course) and distressed it.

I was still not happy with it and decided to try a mosaic top. I smashed a couple left over cermaic tiles from my kichen floor, arranged them, glued them down and grouted it in black.

Zucchini

Apparently it is also zucchini season. My friend Bernice just sent me a photo of her husband Sam holding their first giant zucchini of the year.

Tomato Season

It must officially be tomato season, as I have spotted my first reddening tomato. This is a 'stupice'. This year I planted 8 different kinds of heirloom tomatoes. I found most descriptions on line, but some are a mystery.

First Day

Today is the first time I am writing in my blog. I started this blog to share photos of my dogs and gardens. I am also very intersted in 'trash to treasure'. I have several pieces that I have gotten from one of my favorite places(curbside), which I have repurposed or refinished. I am an amateur at most everything I do, so experimenting on things I get for free seem like the way to go. As time goes on, I will post some before and after shots of garden accessories, furniture for humans and dogs, or whatever else comes my way. All feedback is welcome from anyone who cares to comment. More to come.
